Job Title: IT Manger

Duration: Perm

Location: Nova Scotia

Schedule: 8:30 to 5:30

Core Accountabilities:

• Participate in strategic planning, growth and acquisition planning for client

• Provide project management, monitoring and reporting to the management team. Prepare and track annual IT Capital Budget

• Ensure security of data, network access, and backup systems

• Oversee and monitor firewall security, antivirus and PCI compliancy

• Preserve assets, information security, and control structures; monitor client’s IT inventory

• Server build and design

• Oversee and work with service providers on internet, phone and TV

• Provide desk top support as needed Install all requested hardware and software for on-site staff

• Triage users’ IT matters and develop plans of action to resolve arising issues

• Facilitate the on-boarding and off-boarding of users’ IT requirements

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of software applications. Provide operational and end user support

• Responsible for altering existing software, installing new software, data interfaces, pulling data, data analyse and troubleshooting

• Compiling, coding, analysis and/or verifying information or data

• Phone system design, management and support

• Support a 24/7/365 IT environment

• Keep current with trends and issues in the technology industry

• Support business operations to improve cost effectiveness and service quality

• Comply with proper security, fire regulation, and health and safety policies; Bring all safety concerns to the attention of the Human Resources and CFO department

• Complete other duties as assigned by management


Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong troubleshooting abilities

• Ability to prepare and respond to requests for proposals and other documents as required.

• Ability to prepare IT budgets.

• Ability to develop, deploy and enforce policy and procedures.

• LAN / WAN management

• Exchange 2013 management

• Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 and AD management with Group Policies, of Windows 2016 DataCenter in a Cluster / Linux system, of Hyper-V, Windows 7/10 and Macintosh IOS in an AD environment, of O365 / Hosted Exchange / Azure, of Dell NAS and SAN technologies, of Cisco switches layer 2 (802.1Q)/ Ubiquiti managed switches, of Ubiquiti AP and wireless P2P solutions, of Fortinet NGFW with SSL and IPSec VPN, of FortiVoice PBX and Contact Center Solutions, of SQL server and database maintenance, of debit terminals and POS systems such as MICROS, of MDM and mobile phone support

• Ability to manage a small technology team

• Disaster recovery / business continuity expertise



• Proven work experience in a senior IT role

• Hands-on experience with computer networks, network admin and network installation

• Diploma or degree in a college or university related field

• Advanced software and technology hardware knowledge in a business setting

• Experience with debit terminals and POS systems such as: Host, Micros, Great Plains, Yellow Dog, and/or ADP – asset or willingness to learn

• Highly responsible and able to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion

• Highly organized and able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
