Job Title: BI Data Architect
Type: Contract - 12 month
Location: Kitchener, ON
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform detailed data analyses to develop and enhance dimensional data models
- Translate dimensional models into physical table structures
- Determine the optimal approach for obtaining data from diverse source system platforms
- Design, construct and automate the data staging Extract, Transform, and Load processes
- Provide day to day operational support of the database, ensuring data quality, database availability, and performance
- Developing and optimizing queries to extract data for the BI team
- Provide guidance and support to team members for BI solutions development
- Provide day to day coordination of project tasks and activities, including resource coordination, status tracking and communication of project progress and issues
- Help identify and deliver on short and long term milestones for the College BI strategy
- Support the expansion of a data dictionary by assisting with the development of organizationally agreed upon definitions
- Develop and document data standards for analytic
- Liaise with Information Management Systems department to catalogue existing data in third party systems
- Liaise with IT department to ensure infrastructure is supporting business requirements on the BI team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or related program; advanced coursework/certifications related to big data processing, integration, and analytics
- 7 years of information technology experience, preferably within a postsecondary environment
- Fluency in Microsoft technologies and programming languages such as: SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML/SOAP.
- Experience designing an adaptive data warehouse connected to numerous source systems with divergent data
- Experience developing and automating data mapping, extraction and loading processes
- Experience with Business Intelligence enterprise platform(s) required; WebFocus/IBI experience preferred
- Experience deploying predictive analytics to support and measure an institutional strategy
- Excellent understanding of Internet technologies, and associated security implications
- Understanding and resolving identity management issues within disconnected data sources
- Demonstrated planning, organizational and project management skills for projects of various sizes, complexity and scope
- Writing, presentation and facilitation skills
- Prepares clear concise documentation and reports Building trust and facilitating communication and cooperation across constituency groups
- Hands on, organized, team player including coaching and mentoring, quick learner, and conflict resolution skills
